The younger generations don't call Coke "tonic" anymore (usually we say "soda") because we've learned that we don't like to be made fun of, but the older folks (like my parents)still do.
First Night is our annual New Year's Eve celebration. Very cool. Very big.
A "packie" is a liquor store.
99.9% of this is exactly right. We love iced coffee year round (and thank goodness there IS a Dunkin Donuts, ATM and CVS on every corner), and we sure do go "down the Cape". This meme was wicked pissa.

Here they're called ABC stores. Alcoholic Beverage Control. It's so weird here...the state controls liquor sales, for some reason. There are no private liquor stores here.
